There might not be a more satisfying achievement than a boring NCAA Tournament victory.
There was nothing spectacular about Michigan’s 74-55 win over Montana. It was a routine performance by a team that knew what it had to do and executed the plan. The Wolverines stifled the Grizzlies from the opening jump, and the final result felt inevitable about midway through the first half.
Michigan was bigger, stronger and more athletic and it blanketed Montana’s offense. The Wolverines weren’t sharp offensively but even a walking pace on offense was enough to pull away from a Montana team that just couldn’t score.
