Michigan is two games away from another Final Four with Texas Tech standing in the way. The Red Raiders have the best defense in the country and, according to Bart Torvik, have been playing the best basketball in the country since February 1st.
Other than three painful losses to Michigan State, Michigan isn’t far behind. The two programs both had their seasons ended by Villanova a year ago and both have somehow managed to improve on last year’s performance despite significant roster attrition.
A Thursday evening Sweet Sixteen game in Anaheim should have all the makings of a classic. It will feature NBA-caliber athletes on the wing, great point guard play, and fantastic defense. Most importantly, it will be a matchup of teams who believe they belong in the Final Four.
