Report: New Mexico grad transfer Anthony Mathis hearing from Michigan

According to a report from Jon Rothstein, Michigan is one of 12 schools to show initial interest in New Mexico grad transfer Anthony Mathis.

Mathis averaged 14.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Lobos last season. He shot 41.6% from 3-point range and 88.8% at the free throw line.

Mathis set the New Mexico record for most 3-point field goals in a season (106) and in a conference season (66) and was a two-time All-Mountain West performer.

Mathis is considered an Oregon lean at this juncture. He grew up in West Linn, Oregon and has a close relationship with Oregon point guard Payton Pritchard. The two didn’t just play together in high school, Mathis lived with Pritchard’s family in middle school and high school. The Ducks have also been active in the graduate transfer market and are expected to host Mathis for a visit on Wednesday.

For our subscribers, we put together a video clip on Mathis in action with some thoughts on his potential fit at Michigan after the jump.
