Position-by-position breakdown: Shooting guard

Michigan’s first game of the 2019-20 season is just under a month away. After a whirlwind summer and a coaching change, we decided to take a step back and examine Michigan’s roster in-depth, position by position.

Today, we look at the shooting guard position where the Wolverines have more questions to answer than any other position on the roster. Juwan Howard will have to replace first-round draft pick Jordan Poole without any proven options on the roster. Previously: Point Guard, Center

An open competition

While playing time behind Simpson will be tough to come by, Jordan Poole’s decision to enter the NBA Draft means that minutes at shooting guard are wide open. Despite the opportunity, there’s no obvious answer to fill the position. The list of candidates includes Eli Brooks, David DeJulius, Franz Wagner, and Cole Bajema.
