Trips to Iowa City were a recurring nightmare for John Beilein’s Michigan teams but Juwan Howard will get his first crack at playing in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Friday night (9 p.m., FS1). The Wolverines are still searching for their first road win of the 2019-20 season, which would only be the seventh road victory by a Big Ten team in 41 conference games this season.
Michigan won the first meeting in December, a 103-91 shootout at the Crisler Center. Luka Garza went for 44 points in what was the worst defensive game of the season for either team with U-M outscoring Iowa 1.39 to 1.23 points per possession.
Jordan Bohannon is out for the season for Iowa and Michigan could be without Isaiah Livers for the fifth-consecutive game, but tonight’s tilt will hinge on Michigan’s ability to slow Garza and Zavier Simpson’s ability to pick apart Iowa’s shifting defenses.
