2026-27 Season

Europe 2026: Michigan vs. Lithuania Recap

The Mike Boynton Jr. era got off to a rollercoaster (unofficial) start in Lithuania on Sunday afternoon.

The Wolverines won the first two quarters and got impressive performances from many of their freshmen, but they also saw Moustapha Thiam leave the game in the first quarter with a lower-leg injury and were undone by foul trouble in the second half.

Elliot Cadeau picked up his fourth foul early in the third quarter, which led to Michigan’s lead evaporating. In the end, Cadeau, Trey McKenney and JP Estrella all fouled out and each played fewer than 23 minutes for the game.

The Wolverines led by as many as 14 points, but Lithuania erased the lead and steadily pulled away for a 96-84 victory, paced by former Arizona star Ąžuolas Tubelis, who finished with 31 points, 6 rebounds, and five assists.
