2020-21 Season

Five takeaways from Michigan’s win over Wisconsin

There are no more equivocations.

There’s no more wondering what Hunter Dickinson will look against Big Ten bigs; no more questioning whether the two transfers can keep it up; no more hemming and hawing about Franz Wagner; no more waiting for real competition.

Michigan thoroughly emasculated No. 9 Wisconsin on Tuesday night, 77-53, putting together a 43-6 run over a 15-minute span and proving once and for all it is a capital-C-contender in the Big Ten and in the nation. With the win, Michigan became the only team in college basketball history to win three consecutive games over ranked opponents by at least 19 points.

“They’ve done that to a lot of teams,” an exasperated Wisconsin coach Greg Gard said after the game. “They get a little spark and it turns into an avalanche.”

There are no more question marks here. Only exclamation points.
