2020-21 Season

Game 14: Michigan at Purdue Preview

Michigan heads on the road tonight for its fourth Big Ten road game of the year at Purdue (7:00 p.m., FS1). The Boilermakers have won four in a row and are one of the hottest teams in the conference despite playing six of their first nine games away from Mackey Arena.

Purdue’s KenPom ranking is almost the same as it was a season ago — 25th nationally — but Matt Painter’s team has been more effective in close games. The Boilermakers finished the 2019-20 season ranked 342nd in luck, KenPom’s measure of close-game randomness, and are up to 89th this year, which is second-best in the Big Ten.

The Wolverines are riding a four-game winning streak against the Boilermakers that dates back to the 2018 Big Ten Tournament title game, and a win on Friday would keep them at the top of the Big Ten standings.
