‘One of the best relationships I have’: Michigan in the mix for five-star AJ Casey

Ever since his heyday as a McDonald’s All-American at Chicago Vocational, Juwan Howard has grown synonymous with Chicago’s fabled high school basketball circuit. Few players have stamped a more indelible mark on the city than Howard.

Now, thirty years after his high school career came to an end, Howard’s Chicago roots are again on display, this time on the recruiting trail. The Wolverines are in pursuit of AJ Casey, a 5-star class of 2022 forward who plays for Whitney Young and is one of the city’s top class of 2022 prospects.

Needless to say, the pair’s connection came easily.

“Our relationship is very good, probably one of the best relationships I have,” Casey told UMHoops on Thursday. “We have that strong connection, Coach Howard being from Chicago and all. We already have that tight relationship.”
