For nearly a year-and-a-half, Donovan Clingan endured an endless stream of Zoom presentations and FaceTime calls, confined to his home in Bristol, CT due to the pandemic. That finally changed this past weekend, when Clingan visited Ann Arbor on an official visit.
Clingan, a four-star class of 2022 center, took advantage of the opportunity to interact with the Michigan coaching staff face-to-face for the first time. He broke down film with Juwan Howard, who fleshed out Clingan’s potential fit in Michigan’s pro-style system.
Those film sessions provided a possible glimpse into Clingan’s future.
“He knows what he’s doing,” Clingan told UM Hoops on Tuesday. “He’s developed Hunter (Dickinson) into an NBA prospect this year. He loves what he does. A lot of coaches are in it for other reasons, but he’s doing it because he loves it. That’s something I keep in the back of my head. He just knows what he’s doing when it comes to big men.”
