It was all smiles for Terrance Williams II as he began his post-game interviews Wednesday night.
Though, to be fair, he had every reason for it. His team just won emphatically against Buffalo, the preseason favorite to win the MAC. For the first time since he entered college, he got to play in front of an energetic crowd at Crisler Center. And in front of friends and family, he had the best performance of his young collegiate career thus far.
So as he went through the interview, he smiled. And as he got to one question, in particular, he couldn’t help but laugh.
“I like being different,” the 6-foot-7 forward said.
Williams was referring to his headband, which he was asked about. He wore it upside down, opposite to how the rest of his teammates wore their headbands. There was no reason for it. He just liked being different.
But in a sense, as he said those words, he spoke about the entirety of his situation.
