We’ll get the matchup that everyone wants to see on Sunday night (9:30 p.m., ESPN) when Michigan faces Arizona. On Friday, the Wildcats knocked off Wichita State in a game that ended with fireworks despite Arizona seeming to control the first 30-plus minutes.
Arizona is a team in transition under a new head coach but has impressive roster continuity for a changeover. Former Gonzaga assistant Tommy Lloyd was able to keep the five-man freshman class together that helped Arizona to an impressive top-30 finish last year and has a team talented enough to compete in the Pac 12.
That group is heavy on international talent and positional size — two things that mesh with Lloyd’s track record at Gonzaga. Lloyd was also able to add several vital transfers to the mix, and early returns are impressive, even if the competition level hasn’t ratcheted up quite yet.
