Michigan hosts Maryland tonight (7:00 p.m., ESPN2) in a game that doesn’t have nearly as much juice as it did when it was announced. There will be no opportunity to rehash the Juwan Howard vs. Mark Turgeon drama, Darryl Morsell plays for Marquette now, and the Wolverines and Terrapins have both underachieved relative to their preseason expectations.
That doesn’t make the game any less important for a Michigan team running out of time to figure things out. The Wolverines need to get healthy — Hunter Dickinson and Brandon Johns were limited participants in Sunday’s practice as they recover from COVID-19 — and they need to start winning games to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
