Dylan, Phinisee took your take on his offensive game to heart lol

Yeah, not sure that IU game could have gone more against script. TJD is a non-factor and horrible offensive player Rob Phinisee turns into James Harden and wins the game with a corner three. Their defense and that hostile environment are going to be a big challenge for us.

Other things from the pod I wanted to comment on:

    • I wasn’t quite as sure watching live that Diabate actually affected shots at the rim versus Maryland just missing them. I’d still like to see more there from him. However, I thought he was fantastic at keeping his feet moving to stay in front of guys and most of all avoid getting suckered into jumping. He stayed down, stayed under control, and shut down his man multiple times. THAT is what we need from him if he plays the 4. I like his matchup against IU.
    • Obviously Jones won’t hit 3s at this rate…but I think you ride it until he stops. Why can’t we be the team with some crazy out-of-character three point data for once? If Da’Mante Williams from Illinois can have an out of body experience, why not Jones? He’s only going to take them when he’s open so maybe it is possible to keep this up. And if he does keep hitting them, teams will have to adjust their defense and that opens other things up. I think Jones being a scorer is one way for us to keep this up.

Lovin this episode so far! About halfway through it, and Phinisee heard you talking sh!t, Dylan!!

I also totally agree with the first 10ish min of the pod talking about the defense in the 2nd half. I am still extremely concerned. Keep up the good pods!
