2022-23 Season

Five thoughts on Michigan without Jaelin Llewellyn

Jaelin Llewellyn is officially sidelined for the 2022-23 season with an ACL injury. In a flash, the storyline of Michigan’s season goes from “how much more comfortable can Llewellyn get in Michigan’s offense?” to “can Dug McDaniel be a starting point guard?”

It’s awful news for a graduate transfer point guard who has already faced his share of adversity during his collegiate career. He had played two of his better games of the year last week and will now miss the season without playing in a Big Ten game. He won’t have the opportunity to prove that he can adjust to Michigan’s system and flourish down the stretch, as we saw last year from DeVante’ Jones.

Here are some thoughts on where Michigan goes from here, how ready Dug McDaniel is to step up, and what the Wolverines might look like without their starting point guard.
