2022-23 Season

Game 10: Lipscomb at Michigan Preview

Lipscomb (Saturday, 4:00 p.m., BTN-Plus) flourished as one of the best programs in the ASUN in the late 2010s, peaking at No. 45 in KenPom in 2019, and then Casey Alexander was hired away to Belmont. Long-time Division II head coach Lennie Acuff was hired to replace Alexander in 2019-20 and has struggled to regain that magic.

The Bisons are still competitive but haven’t cracked the top 200 on KenPom, something Alexander did in his final three seasons. Ironically, one of the best wins on Lipscomb’s resume this year is against Belmont and its former head coach. The Bisons are 7-4 on the year with solid wins over Belmont, Chattanooga and Navy, and an impressive 1-point loss on the road at Notre Dame. They also have some ugly road losses against South Dakota, Alabama A&M and Tennessee State.

This team checks in around the 200 mark in KenPom and should finish in the top half of the ASUN. A good mid-major squad that presents some unique challenges, but not a regular season title favorite or likely NCAA Tournament team.
