Michigan fell in East Lansing on Saturday afternoon in a 59-53 loss that felt like it went exactly according to script, while also feeling completely befuddling.
On the one hand, the Wolverines played one of their better defensive games of the year and hung in the fight into the second half to make a late comeback. On the other hand, they couldn’t make a jump shot, played their worst offensive game of the year, and made a half-dozen mistakes in the first half that cost them the game.
Maybe that’s just life on the road in the Big Ten, but Saturday’s loss felt like it illustrated all of the reasons why Michigan won’t turn its season around as effectively as it illustrated why it still might.
