Michigan hosts Nebraska tonight (6:30 p.m., BTN) in a spot where it has little to gain but everything to lose. The Wolverine resume can’t afford many more losses, let alone Quadrant 3 losses. A win over Nebraska doesn’t meaningfully impact the positive side of Michigan’s NCAA Tournament case, but it would prevent a costly blemish.
The Huskers arrive in Ann Arbor ravaged by injury but are still playing hard. They knocked off Penn State, 72-63, at home on Sunday and have proven capable of beating solid teams (Creighton, Ohio State, Iowa, Penn State) on their good days. Nebraska is barely in the top 100, something we haven’t seen since Tim Miles, and has already matched its highest conference win total (4) under Fred Hoiberg.
This is still the No. 13 team in the league, but for the first time in a while, there’s no debate around the 14th spot in the league.
