Michigan heads on the road for the second round of the NIT to face a Vanderbilt team that surged to the finish line this season (Saturday, 12:00 p.m., ESPN). The Commodores are 11-2 since February 1st, checking in at 9th in the country offensively during that span, according to Bart Torvik.
Vanderbilt ranks 80th on KenPom, 22nd on offense and 153rd on defense, and finished 11-7 in the SEC before bowing out in the quarterfinals of the league tournament. Jerry Stackhouse is in his fourth season in charge and has yet to make the NCAA Tournament, but his team is no stranger to the NIT, with a quarterfinal exit last season.
Vanderbilt finished 3rd in the SEC in offense and 12th in defense. This is a team built around its offense and the Commodores have topped 1 point per possession in 13 of their last 14 games.
