Michigan’s season came to a merciful yet brutal end on Saturday morning. The sort of finish that felt as impossible as it was predictable.
The Wolverines were without Kobe Bufkin and Jett Howard but controlled most of the game at Vanderbilt, only to let the entire thing unravel in the final minute. The Commodores rattled off a 9-0 run, fueled by three Wolverine turnovers against Vandy’s full-court press, to storm away with a victory. Dug McDaniel’s potential game-winner missed, and Michigan’s season ended with one final thud.
A year of miserable endings capped by one final disastrous closing stretch.
For Michigan, it is the end of a road on a season that most are ready to put to bed. It’s also the official start of as pivotal of an offseason as Juwan Howard has faced during his tenure in Ann Arbor.
