Michigan hosts Purdue on Sunday (2:00 p.m., CBS) at the Crisler Center in what should be another long afternoon in a season full of them. The Boilermakers are the best team in the Big Ten; the Wolverines are the worst.
Michigan has been outscored by 14 points per 100 possessions in Big Ten play, and Purdue has outscored league opponents by 16 points per 100 possessions. The Wolverines have won two games since Christmas, and the Boilermakers have only lost twice since Christmas. Purdue has started the same five players all season with no major injuries, while Michigan is expected to start its sixth different lineup of the year.
For most of the last decade, Michigan-Purdue was one of the best games on the Big Ten schedule. Two teams that were consistently near the top of the league and would use their matchups to gauge their progress. At this point, Sunday is simply a reminder of how far off course Michigan has drifted.
