Townsend had a standout NCAA Tournament and helped Oakland to an upset win over Kentucky. He averaged 17.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for the Golden Grizzlies this season. He’s a graduate transfer with his COVID year of eligibility remaining.
Other schools linked to Townsend include Michigan State, Tennessee, Louisville, Arizona and UCLA.
Michigan has over half of its roster to fill under new head coach Dusty May and is hosting two other transfers for official visits this weekend in Florida Atlantic’s Vlad Goldin and Yale’s Danny Wolf. Keep track of all scheduled, reported and potential visits on our visit tracker page.
