2024-25 Season

Report: Michigan schedules two-year series with Wake Forest

According to Jon Rothstein, Michigan and Wake Forest are scheduling a two-year series.

The Wolverines will face the Demon Deacons at a neutral venue in Greensboro this year, with a return game scheduled for Detroit in the following season. This year’s matchup will reportedly be played on November 10th, making it a marquee test for Dusty May’s first team in the first weekend of the regular season.

Dusty May said in a recent interview that Michigan’s 2024-25 schedule is almost complete, with just the easiest games left to schedule.

“Scheduling is a little bit like recruiting, where we’re recruiting each other,” May said. “We’re triyng to hold off this game because we want this game or we’d like to get into this tournament, but maybe the dates don’t work.

The Wolverines should have a strong non-conference schedule in May’s first season with a slate that is heavy on neutral court games. The Wolverines will face Oklahoma in Charlotte and Arkansas in New York City. They’ll also participate in the Fort Myers Tip-Off preseason tournament with two games against South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Xavier (matchups to be announced).

Such a slap in the face to students not to do a true home and home

When is this game? Is there a typical time of the season these are scheduled for?

I’d guess that Michigan’s non-conference schedule will be out by the end of the month.

No idea when this game is scheduled for, but might get a date in the official announcement that Rothstein’s report says is coming soon.

Right now, these dates are on the calendar:

    • Season starts Nov. 4
    • MTE is Nov 25/27
    • Jimmy V is Dec 10
    • Oklahoma game is Dec 18

Probably a good idea for maximizing your crowd for an individual game, but bad for building a basketball culture that’s going to give you a good home environment.

Wonder how aware Dusty is of the attendance woes.

It’s possible he’s aware but might not resonate because he was at FAU which doesn’t have a huge following.
