Michigan heads to the Kohl Center tonight (9:00 p.m., Peacock) for the first Big Ten game of the Dusty May era.
The Wolverines are coming off their best win of the season in Fort Myers over Xavier, but Wisconsin has been one of the surprise stories of the college basketball season. The Badgers are 8-0 with wins over Arizona, UCF, and Pittsburgh, and have climbed almost 20 spots on KenPom since the season began.
Greg Gard’s program has opened the season like an NCAA Tournament team, which is impressive after losing Chucky Hepburn, AJ Storr, and Connor Essegian to the transfer portal from last year’s 22-14 squad and being picked 12th in the Big Ten preseason poll.
Michigan’s first road game of the season comes in one of the most challenging places to play in the conference. The Wolverines are on the right track this season but must reach another level to open the Big Ten season with a win.
