Michigan returns to action tonight (6:30 p.m., BTN) as it looks to put Friday’s dismal effort at Mackey Arena behind it. The Wolverines host a Penn State team that has lost five of its last six games despite a valiant Friday night comeback effort at Iowa.
The Nittany Lions are 13-7 (3-6 Big Ten) overall and ranked 45th per KenPom with a signature December home win over Purdue, but they haven’t won a road game this season. They are holding on during a frontloaded conference schedule, but not by much.
Second-year head coach Mike Rhoades has a unique system and one of the league’s best point guards, but the combination of injuries and a flimsy non-conference schedule leave Penn State’s NCAA Tournament hopes teetering on the edge.
