Five takeaways from Michigan’s win over Penn State

After a crushing blowout by Purdue on Friday, Michigan was looking for a chance to bounce back on its home court Monday. The Wolverines got punched in the mouth from tipoff by the Boilermakers and needed a response to prevent one bad game from extending into a worse stretch.

Against Penn State Monday, Michigan never quite found the juice to pull away from the Nittany Lions, even going down five points with two minutes left after leading for most of the second half. But thanks to junior guard Tre Donaldson’s heroics — a solo 7-0 run in the final 56 seconds — the Wolverines escaped with the win and in much better spirits.
