I really appreciated the conversation around sort of the expectations getting skewed by how well this season started. I think one of the challenges for me is, how would I feel if Michigan started out kinda meh but got better and better as the season went on, and earned 4-5 seed in the NCAA tourney. Versus a team that starts out really hot and just kind of hits a wall the last 2-3 weeks of the season.

It’s hard to NOT say I’d prefer the former, because you think of historical teams who get hot at the right time and make a run. I’d be lying if I said that those types of teams are a little more fun to root for at the end.

BUT as you both point out, we’re already so far ahead of schedule of where we all thought we would be in year 1, so we should really just be thankful for that, in particular when you consider how awful last year was.

The one thing with this is that almost every team hits a wall at some point.

I think every team in the league has had a stretch where Big Ten basketball fans at large swore them off in some fashion.

It’s about how you react to it.

I think they have a chance to beat Maryland. Maryland hasn’t been as good on the road as they’ve been at home. Regardless what happens in these last two games. I really feel like this team needs the double bye to rest and get healthy. I also think if they can get healthy. They have a chance to win one or two games in the NCAA Tournament. Before the season if you told me they’ll finish top half of the league and make the NCAA Tournament. I would’ve said it’s a good first year. Sometimes we need to keep things in perspective.

I’m sort of torn on this because I do agree, it does seem like they need some time off to heal and what not. But our games after a break have been kind of hit or miss this season. We had nice breaks before the game @ Purdue and home against MSU and we got beat down pretty good.

But we also had a nice break after that Purdue beat down and our win at Ohio State. I think the biggest thing is, we’ve just have GOT to get some of these players confident again! That to me would be the biggest thing going into the tourney. If Roddy, Rubin, Danny, etc. could have a good game or two, that would do wonders for this team.

Big break before the LA trip too.
