Q1 Frustration on offense against Duke
Their defense obviously plays at a high level all the time. What was the thing that really frustrated your offense maybe the most? Was it the interior or lack of hitting threes?
Dusty May
They were disruptive. They were physical. I thought their wall-ups were as good as we've seen this year. When you catch it on the interior, you're getting some force.
They're going to punch you with their chest. I thought that was a difference, a difference maker for them. As far as the threes, we'll have to look at, you know, I thought we generated some good looks. Some of them were a little bit deeper.
I would say their length and athleticism has something to do with that. And also sometimes when you're in these slugfests, you just, you're out of offensive rhythm. And so you don't have the fresh legs and things like that. And once we got out of our rotation, we played guys a lot longer than we normally do.
And we got out of our normal rotations, which, you know, I don't know, looking back, if that was wise or not. But with a couple of the guys missing so many minutes in the first half, we felt like we needed to let them go and play more than usual.
Q4 Rebounding struggle: desire or talent
Do you think it was more about desire or talent or effort or something else?
Morez Johnson
I think a big part of that was Aday being in foul trouble. But we need to step up as a team to carry that load and get on the glass.
Dusty May
Yeah.
Yaxel Lendeborg
Yeah. Do you have anything to add? Yeah, I agree with that. Aday Mara draws so much attention. It makes it easier for guys like me, Morez, Roddy Gayle to go in and get a rebound. So missing him on the floor was a really big hit on us. Yeah.
Yaxel Lendeborg
Yeah, absolutely, man. This experience brought us together a lot more, you know. And it's a great learning process. Like you said, you know, we didn't get the outcome we wanted, but, you know, we still had a lot of fun. We competed out there and, you know, the environment is something we got to get used to as well because, you know, we have hopes again to win that championship game. So it's going to be just like this.

Jake.
Q10 Ranking Cameron Boozer
Where do you rank Boozer among the best you've seen this year?
Dusty May
His physicality is impressive. And one thing they do, I think, better than anyone is they go get their own misses. It seems like they just have a— obviously it's well trained because they all do it, but they just have a really good feel for knowing where the miss is coming off and getting there quicker. I thought there were several times that there was one of them and there was 4 or 5 of us, and typically we're quick to the ball, we're physical, but for whatever reason on those shots they were able to get to them quicker.
And we just, we didn't come up with the normal 50/50 basketballs that we typically do. Purdue. So I don't know, sometimes, you know, when you freeze the film, it's a bad bounce or there's definitely some, you know, coaches, there's some luck involved. But for them to get as many as they did, they were obviously quicker to the ball and more physical than us.
Alejandro. You mentioned after that Purdue game Elliot Cadeau being a wizard. I'm wondering what you made of his game tonight against some of that length and physicality. Yeah, I mean, we're not going to result.
I mean, I thought he generated some really good looks. The ball didn't drop. Spots. He's 40-plus on the season.
I'm riding with Elliot Cadeau. I thought he did a nice job overall. I thought he was impactful defensively. Everyone on roster could have done things better.
I could have done things better. But yeah, I mean, once again, we try to generate this, and if it goes in, great. And if it doesn't, then how do we figure out a way to win when it doesn't? And I thought it wasn't as if he took a bunch of shots that were ill-advised.
I thought he— he got to the line, he had a couple bounce out. I mean, it's a funny game. I mean, his layup was great basketball. Came out, we got to option 2, 3, we were playing well.
He goes backdoor, guy makes a great pass and the ball just squirts out. Like, we're not going to define ourselves on that. We got to figure out a way all of the other in-between plays because those are the ones that you just— they just happen. It's just part of the game.
So how do you minimize the risk of losing with all the other things? And that's what we didn't do tonight. Thank you very much, Coach.
