Q3 Drills for spacing

Is there certain drills that help emphasize that, or is it just kind of natural?

It's kind of natural. Obviously, we have some transition drills. He likes transition threes, especially pitch-ahead threes. We got foot drills and that.

But obviously, it's just like when we start a game, I think our spacing is— we start practices, we really emphasize spacing. We call it 4-point line spacing because we want to spread out all the way out to where the 4-point line would be and then just move without the ball. I think it's really big emphasis in our offense of just, um, giving the ball space. Um, obviously, you know, you get the ball space, they will reward you.

Q4 Buying into new system

But so many new guys, is there any, like, what's the process like for everyone to kind of buy into that and adjust? Everyone's got to play in a very different system.

I think with the kind of players I think Dusty May recruited, um, he recruited really smart guys. So I, um, I feel like our IQ, uh, and learn and love of the game allowed us to really adapt to our role very quickly. Um, over the summer, we kind of knew what was expected for us. I think Coach May isn't a liar.

Like, what he tells you in his recruiting stage is exactly what it's going to be. Um, so it's really been appreciative for me these past 2 years of him really, you know, really, um, telling you the truth. And I really appreciate that. I always look forward because you really know how often it is your coach is telling you something that's not really the truth.

Q5 Depth perception in stadium

Do you anticipate any, I say, make the right gap perception things, or is that something you'll figure out on the court?

Yeah, I mean, um, Back in Ann Arbor, we had a court— we didn't have a court, but we had a rim in the big house to kind of like simulate what that would look like, especially how far the seats go up. So just being able to look at that, I think, was great for us to just kind of be in that moment. But depth perception obviously is a really, really big thing. So I mean, hopefully when we get out there and shoot, it won't be as much of a problem.
