Q3 Trey McKenney's Final Four impact
And same with Trey, just being a freshman coming in in a Final Four game and having the impact he did. Just talk about what he was able to give you guys.
Banging shots was awesome. You know, see him in the second half, knocks them down. You know, he's been big for us all year, stepping up in big moments. Talk about the Nebraska game, things like that.
So, you know, he's built for this, and, you know, proud of him to be able to step into that role. What does it say that you guys can do this when Yaxel Lendeborg's not playing a lot? Yeah, I mean, we got a deep, unselfish team. It can be anybody's night, any night.
You know, I feel like we've showed it all year. You've seen Vegas, you know, our ability to go through the Big Ten the way we did. And, you know, just ready for one more game. You had a play where you pump fake, they kind of chase you up the 3-line, you did the diagonal pass to Roddy Gayle, everything's rolling for you guys.
Yeah. At that moment, what does that feel like to you? And I guess you feel like that play maybe kind of represents how you guys all chip in. Yeah, I mean, I felt like, you know, we were humming at that point.
We were playing good basketball. We were getting out, running in transition. That was a transition play. We talk about just creating advantages all the time.
That's a play that we rep every single day at the beginning of practice. So just staying fundamental and true to ourselves.
Q7 Foundation laid since 8-24 season
In that period of time between the 8-24 season and last year, like, did you see the pieces of the foundation that could maybe lead to this?
Yeah, for sure. You know, just with guys we brought in, you know, coaching staff, you know, philosophy, definitely aligned. What did say to you guys at the half? I'm not gonna lie, he was in the back at the half and we were all kind of like, what's going on?
What's going on? And then, you know, like right before we went out, he's like, man, like I got you guys, like, like we're gonna be all good. He's trying to play as much as he can. But obviously, you know, when we built some cushion for ourselves, you know, rest him as much as possible and make sure he's ready for Monday.
Thank you. No problem. What's up? For him to go down like that and to come back, that's pretty tough, isn't it?
Oh, it's freaking cool. Yeah, it's awesome. You know, super proud of him. You know, that's just the guy he is, you know, tough his nerves.
Q10 Balancing time-and-score with playing
Is there a balance there between, you know, the time and score mantra and also just playing?
Yeah, whatever. Yeah, I feel like we really struggle honestly at like that 12-minute media mark and down, you know, when we're up big against Tennessee, this game. You know, we build that significant lead and then like we really, you know, just don't play great basketball. So we're going to have to do— I mean, crap, I guess we only have one game left, but I mean, we're going to need to do a good job of staying locked in for 40 minutes.
