Q1 Mike Boynton Jr. and intensity
Coach Church said that Coach Mike doesn't have the intensity that Dusty has, so who gets on you guys when things are going poorly, and how is that different?
That's a good question. Yeah, I mean, I don't think Coach Dusty at times didn't have a lot of intensity, but he brought a light fire. Yeah, um, I really don't know, to be honest, but there's definitely some coaches that get on us. They're not— our coaches aren't Coaches that really yell at you, they just want to explain what's happening and try to help you improve at whatever you failed at.
Q3 What's, uh, what do you think people should know about Coach Mike that maybe they don't? Because, you know, assistant coaches are kind of under the radar. What— what should they know about him as a coach, a man, both?
Really that he's a great leader. I feel like he's going to be a great leader for us. Whether— I mean, he's definitely more reserved and laid back, but I think he's going to be a great leader. And like I said, I feel like he knows exactly what the Michigan culture is about and how Michigan basketball should be.
So I feel like they shouldn't expect any drop-off. I mean, he wants us to be able to build on last year and win more championships. So I'm super excited for him to be our coach.
Q13 Creating his own shots
Coach Boynton was talking a little bit about this year, there's going to be more expectation for you to create your own shots. Is that something that you're working on in practice and how do you go about that? Are you conscious of that as well?
Yeah, I mean, I'm definitely conscious of that when I do my own individual training sessions. That's something that I've worked on all summer and early in the fall, so I definitely feel prepared to be able to do that throughout the season. Coach Boynton mentioned that you feel like you're more settled than last season. Do you feel that as well?
Being more comfortable on the offense and the program as a whole? Yeah, I definitely feel more comfortable just looking back at last year and watching all the film and Trying to improve in the summer. So I definitely feel more, you know, calm when it comes to the offensive end and knowing what defenses they're going to throw at me. What were some things that you really tried to work on individually throughout the offseason?
Just being more efficient with picking my spots and also just trying to break the game down for me when I'm on the ball. So I feel like that's something that I have to attack to improve on this summer because I'm gonna have more situations with the ball in my hands. Just trying to be better and more efficient at that this year.
