Juwan Howard is a popular coaching candidate in the NBA, but he intends to stay at Michigan. As was first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, Howard turned down an overture from the Los Angeles Lakers and wants to stick in Ann Arbor to coach his sons.
ESPN Sources: Michigan coach Juwan Howard recently declined a Los Angeles Lakers overture on the franchise’s head coaching job. Howard is coaching his two sons — Jace and Jett — in Ann Arbor.

Rumors have linked Howard with the Lakers opening since April and his wife, Jenine Howard, took to Twitter back them to shoot them down.
“I also wish they would stop making it about “his sons,” she tweeted in April. “He is excited to Coach EVERY kid here. He wants to win a championship. That’s the focus.”
Wojnarowski also reported that the Celtics were interested in Howard as an option to replace Brad Stevens last offseason. Howard spent decades in the NBA as a coach and player. His name was already popular in NBA circles before he took the Michigan job and will likely come up in future offseasons, but for now Howard remains Michigan’s head coach.
He signed a contract extension last year that extended his deal through the 2025-26 season.
