2022-23 Season

Michigan ranked 22nd in preseason Associated Press top 25 poll

Michigan is ranked 22nd in the Associated Press Top 25 Preseason Poll that was released this morning.

A year ago, the Wolverines entered the season ranked 6th in the Associated Press Preseason Poll before falling out of the poll a month into the season. The prior year, the Wolverines were ranked 25th in the Preseason Poll and went on to win the Big Ten and climbed all the No. 2 before finishing 4th in the final regular season poll.

There are three Big Ten teams ranked in the preseason top 25 this year. Indiana leads that group at 13th, followed by Michigan (22) and Illinois (23).

Michigan will also face several top-25 teams during its non-conference schedule including Kentucky (#4) in London, North Carolina (#1) in Charlotte and Virginia (#18)  in Ann Arbor.

Had a very outside shot at being in London on a work trip for the game against the UK. This morning’s bad news is that that trip is delayed.

Preseason rankings have a common theme to me…Michigan has to earn theirs to get ranked, and other teams/coaches are granted theirs until they prove otherwise…
