Michigan will face Texas A&M on Thursday night (7:37 p.m., TBS) for a trip to its first Elite Eight since 2014. Here’s a first look at the strengths and weaknesses that the Aggies will bring to a matchup with the Wolverines.

Michigan will face Texas A&M on Thursday night (7:37 p.m., TBS) for a trip to its first Elite Eight since 2014. The Aggies advanced to the Sweet 16 with a blowout upset win over North Carolina on Sunday night.

This will sound like revisionist history (I swear it isn’t), but when the brackets where unveiled on Selection Sunday I thought that Texas A&M looked like a team that matched up really well with North Carolina. I also thought that the Aggies were a better matchup for Michigan than the Tar Heels.

Still to come

  1. Elite size, but mismatches go both ways
  2. Average ball screen defense
  3. Lack of perimeter playmaking
  4. Expect some zone looks
  5. 3-point gap in effect
