The shift from Moritz Wagner to Jon Teske at the center position will be the most significant change in this year’s Michigan team.
Wagner wasn’t just a first round pick in the NBA Draft, he was a dynamic talent who changed the way that defenses had to guard the Wolverines. There are plenty of ball screen offenses in Division I basketball, but very few relied on their screener as a primary playmaker.
Wagner changed games with his mere presence on the court.
When No. 13 was in the game, opposing coaches were forced to abandon their traditional pick and roll coverages and rules. Whether they wanted to or not, they had to switch ball screens against Wagner. If they didn’t, they would regret it.
