Amid the chaos of May 13, no one told Hunter Dickinson what was going on. Nobody told any of Michigan’s 2020 recruits what was going on.
He had yet to visit Ann Arbor, but something was in the works. He was set to be one of John Beilein’s top targets come the fall — a top-40 big man who could step in and fill a void once Jon Teske ran out of eligibility. His recruitment was being led by assistant coach DeAndre Haynes and Beilein himself. All of that got put on hold by an Adrian Wojnarowski tweet.
“To be honest, I’m not sure (if I’ll be contacted),” Dickinson told me that day. “I would probably think so, but I’m not sure.”
He went on to say that he was highly considering Michigan, and the Wolverines still had a chance. Of course, contingent on who they would eventually hire.
“If they hire somebody who would be a really good coach and I feel like I could gel with in a short bit of time,” Dickinson said. “I feel like they still have a high chance of me going there. I just have to see.”
