Tonight’s game in Champaign (9:00 p.m., FS1) was supposed to be one of the premier Big Ten games of the season. Instead, the Wolverines limp into the State Farm Center with more questions than answers.
Illinois sputtered out of the gates but regrouped without Andre Curbelo and has emerged as one of the Big Ten’s best teams once again. Michigan is 7-6 and fell short in its last two games before postponing a pair of games due to COVID-19. Its roster status is uncertain as it walks into an arena that will be hungry for revenge after the Wolverines won last year’s Big Ten title.
It’s a battle between two teams that are heading in opposite directions. An Illinois team ready to compete for the Big Ten crown against a Michigan group searching for anything to grab onto to salvage its season.
