Rutgers guard Paul Mulcahy entered the transfer portal today as a graduate transfer and Michigan is reportedly among the schools to be in contact.
Adam Zagoria reported that Kentucky, Kansas State, Michigan and West Virginia were “some early schools to reach out” to the 6-foot-6 guard.
Mulcahy averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game for Rutgers last year. He’s a low-volume offensive player, but a capable passer and creator with positional size.
The Wolverines have landed three transfers in this class, Tennessee’s Olivier Nkamhoua, Alabama’s Nimari Burnett and Seton Hall’s Tray Jackson, but they still have two scholarships available. Those scholarships likely earmarked for depth at the guard and wing positions where Michigan lost Kobe Bufkin and Jett Howard to the NBA Draft and lost North Carolina transfer Caleb Love due to transfer issues.

This is interesting. Would it affect Reeves’ recruitment at all?

What do you think a guard rotation with him looks like?
I have an idea in my head and I don’t like it
If he’s just taking Llewellyn’s minutes, sure. Rough fit as a starter next to Dug

Said this in the roster thread, but Mulcahy is a pretty obvious take if you can get him. He doesn’t fix the shooting woes, but he’s a 6-6 guard who can create with the ball, is a proven Big Ten player and can defend a bit.
If the goal is to add as many serious proven high-major players as possible, he fits.

As a frequent Mulcahy hater I am very conflicted by this development.

I would think Mulcahy and Reeves would be one or the other but I guess you’d add both if you could?
