Michigan heads on the road tonight to face Maryland (7:00 p.m., FS1) as its season spirals downward. The Wolverines have dropped nine of their last 12 games and will be without their star point guard for the next six road games. Things are far from perfect in College Park, but Maryland has done a better job keeping the train somewhat on track, if only barely.
The Terps are 9-6 (1-3 Big Ten) but played the 346th most difficult non-conference schedule in the country and haven’t beat a top-100 team this year.
Much more was expected from this roster, which returns multiple starters from last year’s NCAA Tournament team, but Kevin Willard’s team hasn’t figured it out offensively. It is scrapping to keep its season alive after resuming league play with two losses (by 14 at home to Purdue and by three at Minnesota).
