Listed at 6-foot-8 and 230 lbs., at first glance, junior forward Will Tschetter would hardly be mistaken for a bruising football player. But as assistant coach Kyle Church sees it though, Tschetter has the gridiron mentality.
“If you had 12 guys like Will out there, we might look like a football team during practice, flying around, running into each other.” Church said on Friday.
Seemingly as rambunctious as they come, Tschetter’s outsized on-court personality has been a gelling factor for the Michigan men’s basketball team. In a world of new faces, and ambiguous chemistry, Tschetter is perfectly content to rip the band-aid clean off, and engage with his teammates. One of the program’s few returners from last season, Tschetter’s role continues to expand beyond his on-court performance.
“He embodies team energy about as much as anybody can,” Church said. “He’s fantastic as far as bringing it every single day, being so positive with his teammates, giving us a guy to point to for the younger guys, say ‘Hey, this is what it should look like.’”
