Cincinnati big man Moustapha Thiam will visit Michigan on Monday, as first reported by 247 Sports.
Thiam is a 7-foot-2 big man who averaged 12.8 points and 7.1 rebounds in 27.2 minutes per game at Cincinnati this season. The sophomore began his career at UCF and is viewed as one of the top big men in the transfer portal this offseason.
He’s previously taken an official visit to St. John’s, with Arkansas, Kansas, and Michigan State also in the thick of his recruitment. The Michigan visit is the first public link between Thiam and the Wolverines.
Michigan fans might remember Thiam from the exhibition season, when he had 15 points in a 100-98 win over the Wolverines (who were without Aday Mara and Morez Johnson Jr.).
Thiam is a native of Senegal and played his prep basketball at DME Academy in Florida. He was a top-50 recruit who starred at UCF as a freshman before transferring to Cincinnati for his sophomore year. Now he’s headed to his third school in three years after Wes Miller was fired.
Continue after the jump for extended video, scouting notes, and thoughts on the portal pursuit and Thiam’s fit in Michigan’s system.
